Bear headshot

So I snuck up on a sleeping bear. I snuck around to his face and I aimed right at his skull. I had one shot left in my rifle, and I needed food.

I pulled the trigger, BAM! Right into his brain. The bear jumps up and attacks me....

What the hell is this? How did it not die? I'm pretty pissed about this. I actually took a picture on my phone of the moment before I fired, gun aimed at his dome. I'd post it if it would let me.

I'm very upset about this though

Sleeping? That is something new? Does that mean that other wildlife sleep as well? Xbox or PC?

Xbox. And I reloaded enough times that I found him sleeping again and put a bullet right between his eyes this time. It killed him this time.

Note to self :

Back of head = no

Is this correct? Bears sleep?

Maybe he was already dead and you thought he was sleeping. Was there a dying animation and sound when you shot the sleeping bear?

bears do sleep now sometimes. i found one sleeping in dp, in its cave... when first saw it, i was like... wtf?!?!?! who killed the bear? then walked closer and the beast woke up... almost got heart attack lol

There's a picture of a sleeping bear in the screenshot thread from July so it's not that new. I've had fun catching a bear sleeping myself a couple times, like the one pictured below. It was definitely sleeping; I had been keeping an eye on it to ensure it was safe to harvest some meat. It had been walking around for awhile, went to sleep for a bit, and it woke up again just a couple minutes after this screenshot.

I am glad this came up. I just killed that same bear in DP and I setup a temp base in its cave. When that new bear spawns....... :oops:

That would have been the death of me, it probably would have spawned while I was sleeping!

That new bear better leave my stuff alone!
