RazorOH Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Since the last update the game continues to crash after playing for some time. It will literally FREEZE up and then the TLD.exe dies. I am playing on a PC with Windows 8.1. Hopefully you are looking into this, let me know if there is something that I can supply to you to help you out.
Guest Support Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 First steps to check and try: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=7888If it's still crashing after you've tried verifying the Steam file, then please attach your debug output file here, and I'll create a bug ticket. Also let me know if there's any specific map or location where it happens, or whether it happens entering/exiting buildings or loadable areas, or if it only happens during certain events or activities. Any additional details will help the team track down the issue for your specific system.Thank You
RazorOH Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 This has happened numerous times re-entering into the Carter Hydro Dam, and sometimes entering into the Camp Office, both in Mystery Lake. I checked my Steam files and there were NO problems. I am including the Output log that you requested. Thanks...I love the game!output_log.txt

Guest Support Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 From the dev team:"It looks like the fatal error is:D3D11: Failed to create RenderTexture (1920 x 1080 fmt 44 aa 1), error 0x887a0005Their video card has plenty of memory, so this is probably a driver bug. They should ensure they have latest drivers. If still a problem, playing in DX9 may not having this driver issue."If it turns out you need to try running in DX9 mode:The game now defaults to DirectX11 (from DirectX 9). Not all systems and graphic cards/chips are compatible with the more current DX11 displays. If needed, players can still run in Directx9 mode by running tld_dx9.bat or passing -force-d3d9 as a command line parameter when launching the game. In Steam interface, click on "LIBRARY".In games list, right click on "The Long Dark".Choose "Properties"Click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..."Paste into text box "-force-d3d9" without the quotesClick "OK".Click "CLOSE".This will run the game in DirectX 9 instead of 11. It may not fix the issue 100%, but you can try and see if this improves anything.
