Ironicspade Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Please excuse me if this is just me being blind/clueless and close/move the topic.I have near 20 hours of game-play so I am no noob, but not a vet. The other day I was out in a cave and needed to make a fire for water. So I made a fire in the dark, evidently making it on top of my feet(is this possible? or did I step 1 step forward before cooking?). I then entered the "Add Wood/Cook/Water" menus to do my business.I then seemingly randomly died and looked to see that I had died of being burned. I dont re-call any noise/indicator that I was on fire. (I feel this should be very obvious as one does not burn alive without noticing). This could also be due to the fact that I had the UI up for cooking. What I would like to see is maybe a vocal hint("Ouch") or something more obvious visual that you are onfire so you can react accordingly and not die stupidly like I did.
TWM Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Yup, it happened to me too. Tried to start a fire in the dark, made it under my own feet, and lost all my clothes and most of my health while figuring out what was going on.Nowadays, I make sure I have a light on just to see what I'm doing in those situations.
whisperwind777 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I never start a campfire in complete darkness. I always light a torch first and use the torch to start a fire.
4Doose Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 (I feel this should be very obvious as one does not burn alive without noticing)HAHAHA Agreed !
Boss Llama Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 One does not have to create the fire under one's own feet for this to occur. The animation of creating the fire pulls you in and moves you, and when it returns you back to control after the fire is lit, it sometimes passes you back in to the flames, or appears to get stuck on a wall or prop and leaves you in the fire. Given that it sometimes rotates you by more than 90 degrees when you start the fire-lighting animation, it's difficult to control in all circumstances.
Ironicspade Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 I'm just very glad I'm not the only one who had this problem. Hopefully it will become more obvious in future releases when you catch on fire
