Ssschah Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 So I was playing around with how hot things could get in TLD yesterday. I did a coal run and piled coal into the forge until the temperature maxed out on Desolation Point in [spoil]The Riken[/spoil]. The fire appeared to cap out at 11 hours 59 minutes and 360 degrees Fahrenheit. What was really funny though, was the temperature I felt standing next to the forge with fully crafted clothing, etc. I managed to get up to 148 degrees Fahrenheit, and I started to wonder, as silly as this sounds, if there will eventually be a mechanic where you will take damage from extreme heat?Really loving this new area, by the way.
alunasmoon Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 the issue i find with damage from the heat is at the moment i havent found a max temp for fires outdoors or indoors and even find those numbers to be strange ill have a fire at 170 and the room temp will go up , i think the takeing damage is stupid because your in a metal you know what still out in the cold so i feel the room wouldnt get that hot, however same goes with the indoor the temps need major tweaking and max temps before we even think of adding a to hot damage i think that instead to just make hydration go down. in all honesty i think before this is added that haveing fire to cure faster the hotter it is and cook faster as well should be added first
exeexe Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 A natural reaction to extreme heat is to go away. Therefore it is highly unlikely that you will be taking dmg from extreme heat without any restraint from a realistic perspective
sierra 117 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Yeah i agree you should be able to cure hides faster if you stick up a 5 hr fire or so. I also think that nw weve got coal to use it would be interesting if you could ruin/melt a normal stove by raisin temp too high with coal, then you could only make a really hot fire in the forge as its designed to do so, and surrounded by a metal ship, rather than a wood stive surrounded by a wooden structure.Just a thought let me know what you guys think
Ssschah Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 I definitely agree with fires curing things faster.
