Gaming on New Mac

Hello to all. I'm new to The Long Dark despite my interest in the title when it first went aphla, I've not payed much attention but with the recently revised content and anniversary news I'm happy to say that this game would be great for a busy gamer like myself that plays as much as he can when he can.

Unfortunately I'm a tad skeptical of my current laptop and how it'll be able to preform under even the most minor games settings (of which I don't truly want to hinder, especially for such as visually alluring game.) Would someone please care to let me know if they've had any trouble with their mac's?

Currently I'm running a:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)

2.2 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB

Built In - Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB (This is my biggest concern, that this wont be able to handle it. Currently I play Massive Chalice and the mac screams for mercy - I've adjusted settings to be as low as tolerable and despite it's agony and pushing harder than I think is necessary, the laptop does alright.)

Now I'm wondering if I should just wait and get one of the soon to be released dedicated Steam Machines and match it to most of the games that I play on steam (all similar or lower quality than The Long Dark.) If anyone has any suggestions on which new machine will be a good medium fit please feel free to chime in. I'm primarily a PlayStation gamer but somethings you just need a PC for.

Thanks.

Hey there! Unfortunately, I'm not really a tech person, so I'm not excellent at answering these questions myself. However, I can point you to the system requirement thread here:

I notice this thread is a bit dated, and we've mentioned the possibility of minimum requirements changing over time, so I'm going to double check with someone tomorrow to make sure this is still accurate. Until then, this should at least give you a general idea.

Welcome to the forums!
