Draugr Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 The hatchet and knife should be equipable items that, if the player is quick enough to draw during a wolf attack, give more power to punches and have a chance to seriously maim or outright kill the thing during the fight.I mean, if a knife is hanging off my belt and I have time to draw it, you bet your canned goods I'll grip it as hard as I can and go Liam Neeson on the bugger.
elloco999 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 When you fight a wolf, the best weapon (knife, hatchet, pry bar, in that order) in your inventory is used automatically. Not sure if there is still some icon indicating the weapon used but that used to be the case. It is easy to miss though, as you're focused on fighting the wolf, not the icons.
alunasmoon Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 i would like a melee option to go at the wolf with a knife not the wolf coming at me first alwayx
megamillionare Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 yea maybe if you are close to a wolf it could have like an interaction button thing like when you are searching things to attack it
mjv96 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I'd even like to have the option of using a flare to fight a wolf or against a bear. A flare burns around 1400F or 760C and that's wicked hot. You can bet your butt if I have a flare and a wolf decides to attack anyway, I'd be thinking of using that and not worrying about a knife or hatchet.
elloco999 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if a wolf actually runs of sooner if you stab it with a burning flare instead of with a knife. +1 to using torches and flares as weapons to defend against wolves.
Gaboris Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I don't really know how a torch or a flare could be used in a fight since if you have either lit wolves are kept away and if you have one that isn't lit I highly doubt that anyone would be able to light one while a wolf is trying to rip their throat out. Unless if flares and torches by themselves don't keep wolves away since so far I always got to throw one at them. If it doesn't then YEAH let me burn their ears! +1
mjv96 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I've been attacked at least 2 times by wolves with a lit flare in my hand, so it's not 100% that they'll run, though if you toss it, I've never seen them not run. Still, I'd like the option to use that if it comes to pass that I again get attacked by a desperate wolf.
elloco999 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Wolfs don't attack you when you are holding a lit torch or flare unless you get too close to them. At least that is my experience. They never get close to me by themselves, but if I get walk/ run towards them and get close before they move back they do attack or run off.If you walk slowly towards a wolf it will hold it's position for a short while and then move back a bit. This way you can get past a wolf if simply walking around it is not possible due to terrain or something. But if you do get too close while you have a burning torch/ flare in your hand and the wolf attacks, it would make sense to use that torch/ flare as a weapon instead of trying to get your knife. (Although, if I were face to face with a wolf for real, the torch would not be the only thing in my hands. In my other hand I would have a weapon at the ready, a gun if I had it my knife if I didn't.)
Gaboris Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Ohhh! Okay that makes sense. Well yeah in this case let me use my lot torch in a fight.
mjv96 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Ya I'm not sure how close I was in the past to those wolves with a lit flare but I probably was closer than I normally get to them so it makes sense.
