Seems to me that this game has everybody confused. Everyone has different expectations I don't know if this game is supposed to end of the player dying or surviving but I know this from experience, anyone who will invest hours and hours on their char. will surely like to see it saved, it is the emotional bond that drives you I started here, this was my first base here I got mauled by a bear survived by the skin of my teeth and at the end to end it all just because you are supposed to fade in to the dark, why ???? are the devs. that evil I think not. My money is on the survive indefinitely for sandbox and yes the happy "Disney" ending cause that is the right and the moral thing to do, and that's how you close this marvelous piece of Artwork which is called the long dark, remember it is the long dark not forever dark after all.
