marin
I have a new PC and I installed all of the necessary things and several games which are working normally but TLD has no sound. Is there something that I'm missing?
Guest Alan Lawrance
If you have a new PC, you might need to install the DirectX runtime:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=
marin
That was in the "necessary things" already I have DirectX, Redistributable packages, java, flash and net framework installed. Not sure what else would I need
Guest Alan Lawrance
Can you send me (alan@hinterlandgames.com) your output_log.txt? It's in the tld_Data directory (found where Steam installed the game).
Bill Tarling
Also check whether v.082 or v.083 -- Alan added the additional update files... not likely part of the bug, but not everybody realizes they need to exit Steam completely, then reload Steam for the updates to start running
Guest Alan Lawrance
Another theory -- make sure your audio sliders are not at zero. No idea how that would happen, but it's something to verify.
marin
My custom Steam folder had an extra space at the end as Alan noticed from my output log. I made another folder without the space and now everything works.Damn accidental space ruins everything!
Guest
This is good to know. We have an inquiry into the audio tool developer to see if it's an issue on their end.
Guest
Question, did you move the folder after the game was installed the first time?
marin
The folder cannot be moved once initialized, its literally impossible to do anything with it, couldn't even rename it. I had to delete the contents and then delete the folder itself from within Steam. (Can't delete in windows explorer)Then I created a new folder named it Steam again and made sure there was no space in the name and reinstalled the game. Then it worked normally. The "Steam " folder name was the 100% reason for the sound not being recognized.
Guest
The sound engine looks for the sounds in a sub folder and as long as it's in the original install location and has a legal name it should have worked. The trailing space shouldn't have mattered, but it's good that you fixed it.
