Multitools

Hi all,

This is my first post here so I will try not to commit any faux pas but bear with me.

First off kudos to Hinterland Studios for creating an amazing gaming experience. The ambience and the mood is truly breathtaking. Having grown up in a cold area of Canada I am familiar with the sound of a chill wind whipping through the trees on a dark snowy night and your game is the closest I've encountered to replicating that experience. I only recently discovered the game but I have already poured hours into it and I am eager to see see where the development of the game goes.

Anyway I hope to become an active member of these forums but to start with my wish list item would be a trusty multitool such as a Leatherman, am I allowed to say trademarked names here? If not let's call it a "weatherman multitool" ;) . I see it as a tool that could be used for several things such as:

- harvesting materials with the knife

- repairing items with the variety of tools

- opening cans with the can opener

- and possibly other uses like starting fires, first aid etc. it all depends on what model of multitool you have

Now that may sound overpowered but the tradeoffs in my mind would be:

- it would degrade quickly if it was being used for all of the above on a regular basis and I would make it costly to repair being that it has several parts to it.

- it wouldn't be nearly as effective as using the right tool for the job e.g. it could be used to repair but would have a lower % success and take longer (jack of all trades master of none sort of thing).

- it could be fairly rare or hard-to-find

That's just my two cents. I am curious to see what others think? Admittedly my interest in this item is because in reality I am a multitool fanatic aficionado, haha.

Be gentle and thanks again for building such a great game! Keep up the great work!

I like this idea as well. A super rare item (that might not show up in every game) would be fun and a multitool certainly isn't game breaking in any sense.

Of course, I'm always excited when I find the pea coat, or the cargo pants, or the magnifying glass, so any more "rares" that don't break the game are just bonus.

P.S. I'm a RL multitool "aficionado" too.

I've got a multitool with me right now, theyre handy as heck. :D

I won't lie there are times when I have 3+ all within arms reach-- one on my belt, one in my bag, one in my car etc. haha but this is why I don't think it would be all too unreasonable to stumble across them in an old cabin.
