SteveP Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Life Below ZeroThis is a great subsistence and survival show that features many techniques that we use in The Long Dark and more that we could wish for such as a use for planks to set gill nets. The ability to open holes in the ice or to have a long distance weapon to discourage wolves, pit traps, cache, using dogs, sleds, building sleds, melting snow for water and coffee, making fire outdoors on the ice, hanging meat up out of reach of bears, marauding bears and wildlife. Birds getting on meat. Just so much! I liked the recent part about Andy trapping muskrat under the ice. It's also a great show as you get to see how the people make out over the years. So sad to see Andy and Kate go separate paths. Well it happens; harsh life there, not for everyone. Most of the people have a partner or family; only Sue and Glen manage totally alone for extended periods. Now Andy has to as well. The loneliness was a major factor in Alone. Psychology is SOOOO important!! Even in the middle of a city of millions, we find isolated individuals who suffer as a result of loneliness.
SteveP Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Well Sue has Foxxy and Andy has his 12 closest buddies, the sled dogs. From personal experience a dog makes a good companion for people who get left on their own. Loneliness might be the worst killer of all.
