ethomas21 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Player leaves footprints in the snow, allowing us to find and track our own path.Animals ought to leave tracks as well. Distinctive tracks for Bear, Wolves, Deer and Rabbits.Find Deer tracks, follow tracks to hunt Deer. Find Wolf tracks, go in opposite direction to avoid Wolf. Find a bunch of criss-crossing Rabbit tracks, set snares for Rabbits. Find Bear tracks, run the F*@% away!Oh god, maybe animals would even respond to YOUR tracks! The eventual addition of readable books (wink, wink) could include pictures of different animal tracks, maybe even a hint about how to tell fresh tracks from old ones...Currently there's a way to track an injured animal by the trail of blood. This would still be useful if there are a number of different tracks nearby, being able to tell which ones were made by the injured animal by following the blood drops.ps: I got the original seed for this idea from a post by Hotzn about Bears outside your safehouse at night: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=6260&p=42342#p42342
JErosion Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 well I think they use to leave tracks, I remember seeing wolf prints at one point but i haven't seen any in ages, Also the player will leave "snow prints" on dark colored rocks
ThorsHand11 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 +1 for animal tracks. I would also like to see a reduction in animal spawns so you actually have to uses these footprints. Right now it is rare to go 5 min without seeing some animal and I think that is too often.
toebar Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Oh god, maybe animals would even respond to YOUR tracks!Yes, I think this would be frightening-- watching a wolf follow your tracks towards you.. so much for hiding just out of the detection range. Maybe the wolf wouldn't follow your tracks everytime-- I can picture myself crouched behind a tree waiting for the wolf to pass so that I can continue along the tracks towards the dam.. but wait, he spotted/smelled my tracks and stopped... he's looking around... sniffing the air... ... he continued on his path .. I must not have smelled tasty today.
octavian Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 well I think they use to leave tracks, I remember seeing wolf prints at one point but i haven't seen any in agesThe still do, although for some reason only in particular instances, like when chased or after being attacked.

kringlur Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I'd like this too, I thought it was strange when I noticed that animals can run right past me and not leave tracks.
