random calliope Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 This would reduce need to flip back and forth between the status screen and inventory.
octavian Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 What situation are you taking into account? Eating in particular? So you don't flip back and forth in that context or what?
random calliope Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Just the eating situation. Generally, when preparing for each day before going out I will know I need to eat butI won't know how much. For instance, I may be at 1650 calories and this will determine whether I eat bear or wolf. Bear would leave leave a small piece of bear meat in my inventory. These small pieces are a major irritant. Those smaller pieces look very much like full pieces. At times I have left the camp thinking I have plenty of food in my inventory only to learn later they were only 50 calorie remnants (or less) and I left all my actual food at camp. So I do not leave small pieces of meat in my inventory and eat them every time I see them there. The solution to not creating so many leftovers is to do the math before I take a bite. To do that I need the numbers in front of me when they're needed. I would prefer not to have to do the math at all and just have a hunger bar that I keep full. It takes so long to starve that the <50 calorie pieces have no actual value.
octavian Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 @random calliope:The reason I asked was to know what exactly you wanted it for. I never look at the numbers, I just look at the bar, it's, easier for me to infer useful information than by looking at the numbers, that's just the way I am.So what I did suggest a while back - and wasn't even acknowledged but I'm used to that - was, do you know the progress bar that appears at the top of your screen when you're eating? I suggested that there should be one just like it, immediately below it. And that would be your hunger bar. So when you're eating you would see your hunger bar filling up so you wouldn't have to peek at the survival panel after you've finished eating to see what effect that had.Again, this is from my perspective of hating the numbers and just using the bars. But as I understand it this would not help you at all, because you want the numbers. So that's why I asked, to understand what is it that you were asking for.
