doggonemess Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I would really like to see a different save system. Right now, you can only save on rest, entering an interior, or injury. Why it doesn't save on leaving a structure, I don't know. It's critical to me to be able to save anywhere, at any time. Not because I'm worried about dying or messing up, but because the real world gets in the way sometimes. I have kids, and sometimes I have to stop unexpectedly to take care of them. I can't always get to a safe place or drop the bedroll and take a nap. If saving on demand is not incorporated, could saving on exit be implemented? That way, I could stop without worrying about the state of the game. Thanks for your consideration!
octavian Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 +1.And remove the load button from that UI so you can load just from the main menu
Fuarian Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I honestly have no idea why this isn't a feature already. :^
selfless Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I honestly have no idea why this isn't a feature already. :^To limit "save scumming", that is, replaying from same save over and over until desired result obtained.Be even better if there was a constant save point that automatically updated often and always on program close.
Pyro Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 -1DO NOT add a save feature to the game. It will cheese it so much. The point of the game is to survive for as long as possible and to do so in a difficult environment adds challenge and a sense of victory when you overcome said challenge. It will make this game SO much easier if you can "save scum" and that would take so much away from it. I already find normal difficulty too easy as it is. Why would you want to make it easier? I would understand if the save feature can be a part of the beginner difficulty but I would not make it standard.
octavian Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 -1DO NOT add a save feature to the game. Just so I understand why the -1. To limit "save scumming", that is, replaying from same save over and over until desired result obtained.Same, if you answer that question I'd appreciate it.
random calliope Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I'm for saving on exit. Before I end a session I almost always walk out a door and back in then quit. As for save scumming, saving on exit would just save whatever mistakes I'd made. There is only one save file. I don't see scumming potential there, rather it would be guard against that despicable activity I've done a thousand times in other games.

That topic got sidetracked because I also suggested no autosaves mainly because the game drops frames when it does, and it was alluded it was my PC at fault, and also the issue of guarding against crashes/power cuts was raised in favor of autosaves.Well, the game dropping frames when saving just got through past testing as a bug, so it wasn't my PC in particular at fault, so that's good.So yeah, just, "save and quit" and remove the "load" button from the ESC UI so you can't abuse autosaves.
elloco999 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 And once more I will add my +1 to saving on exit and removing the load button from the menu.
ridankrad Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 And once more I will add my +1 to saving on exit and removing the load button from the menu.+1 from me too.
selfless Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 A downside would be if you do get stuck somewhere in a map hole that hasn't been fixed yet, it's game over for that game. Maybe wait for feature in beta test? Til then, carry a sleeping bag for emergency nap/saves.
