Killed while inside

I was hunting a bear right outside the quonset station shot it three times and ran inside after each shot with the rifle. 4 total shots. On the fifth shot I clicked on the front door before the bear was close enough to damage me. Yet the death screen showed up. This is the first time its happened but its also only the second time ive been able to attack a bear. Occured in ver .258 Extremely frustrating as I was just shy of 50 days

Did you see the bear attack animation or was it instantly the death screen? Do you remember what your condition was before the attack?

I saw it turning the corner towards me as I entered the front door and then it was the death screen after it had finished loading. I had 40% health with no status or other medical effects.

The attacks from wildlife as you enter an interior is by design, however they are taking to much condition and should only be doing a small amount of damage to give the impression that you just made it into the door as the bear or wolf attacked.

I believe you were killed by this error in how much damage the hostile wildlife is suppose to dole out. This should be fixed for next update.
