m1ghtydukes Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Ideas i would like to see in a future version: house's that have gas containers outside them should have the ability to use them for instance gas fires, working cookers even heating in the house: next would be working generators with ability to refill them too,for lighting and\or charging batteries for other items that could be done: be able to create traps such as deadfall traps and pits: food storage is a pain so why not let it be able to freeze if left outside but with chance of the food being taken by animals: even in sandbox mode there should still be some form of objective other than basic survival the ability to create new tools for instance, hopefully one or all of these find there way into this fantastic game
RenegadeReturn Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Don't forget the context of the game, you have to survive in a world without modern technology or water and electricity because of this geomagnetic disaster. So it would not be in the interest of the game to add some things, it would facilitate the survival too much, I think.
kamajutsu Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 you have to survive in a world without modern technology or water and electricity because of this geomagnetic disaster. This is very true, and something to keep in mind. But some portable generators do work on standard fuel (which we can already find in jerry cans). But then there would be the issue of implementing it into the game, and what exactly it's going to power, which would be tricky
toebar Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I think the idea is that all electrical equipment is basically toasted, so there'd be nothing to power with a generator..
octavian Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I think the idea is that all electrical equipment is basically toasted, so there'd be nothing to power with a generator. If all electrical equipment is toasted doesn't this go against the idea of the aurora affecting electrical equipment, like lights, turning them on and off, flickering, that sort of stuff?Or was that idea scrapped some time during development? It was a big mechanic, obviously, also affecting wildlife among other things. And then there's the radio and car battery object, and one of the extremely power dependent locations rumored to be in the August map update.
m1ghtydukes Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 The idea behind me saying a generator is the factor of survival knowing that a massive geomagnetic storm has crippled most electronic equipment doesn't mean you wouldn't try to make it work scavenge for parts from cars, survival is about using anything and everything around you to your advantage
octavian Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 The idea behind me saying a generator is the factor of survival knowing that a massive geomagnetic storm has crippled most electronic equipment doesn't mean you wouldn't try to make it work scavenge for parts from cars, survival is about using anything and everything around you to your advantageI argue against the crippling of most electronic equipment. What about the radios inside cars and interiors? Won't those work? If not, why can you interact with them? Is it an issue of, out of all of them, only a small number will work :?:
m1ghtydukes Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Hence why I said most not all I don't think it would affect torches or anything of a simplistic design batteries would still work after all
toebar Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Alright, perhaps toasted was not the right word. Maybe more along the lines of what octavian said, where electronics aren't working while the geomagnetic storm/event continues. This is why the general consensus is that compasses won't function properly. It's my sense that this event would affect batteries and flashlights etc.
fredqwerty Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Ideas i would like to see in a future version: house's that have gas containers outside them should have the ability to use them for instance gas fires, working cookers even heating in the houseI have had the same thought many times. Having used a Propane gas cook top for may years and knowing that a tank will last more that a year, the gas stoves should work. The amount of fuel left in the tanks would depend on how long the people stayed after the geomagnetic event happened. The drawback would be to light a stove to cook on would still use up your limited match supply. The only advantage I can see to using the gas cooker would be to able to cook in a house that did not have a fireplace.
m1ghtydukes Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Fredqwerty that's the sort of idea I was going for glad I had someone like at least one idea lmao, not aiming any negative feedback to others who have commented either
