kaynesyduin Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 I thought about marking a trail with sticks... do items have a despawn, whether its 'once you leave area' or 'on a timer' or if it 'dumps the memory cache whenever full or by automation'?
Hotzn Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 People have successfully marked paths with items in the past, and apparently they stayed. For example, water bottles. As for the sticks, you will have to try it out.
AmericanSteel Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Rose hips are also great for a trail of breadcrumbs, they are either on a bush or in your pocket. Other light weight options are tinder plugs and cat tails. I like to use cedar whenever I get to intersections as the wood stands out so much. Same goes used flares, as are light and are easy to see.
bethany Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Just be aware of decay rates and the item's existing condition when you first drop it! If it decays, it will continue doing so after being picked up and will eventually disappear.
kaynesyduin Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Thank you for the reply... I never survive long enough to see anything despwan; certainly, this information will become a great help as my survival skills are realized.
bethany Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 That's great to hear! Good on you for finding ways to teach yourself the basics and the lay of the land.
