Crash when entering some places

Hi

First of all thank you for this game, it's been a great experience to play it so far.

I had some issues when playing (pilgrim mode)this week, using xbox one:

The main issue is when entering some places (Carter Dam, Camp Office and Ravine, the items on my inventory duplicate, a black screen appears, and the game crashes). So far I am unable to cross Ravine to Coastal Highway because of this issue.

Please let me know if you have already a solution on this (apparently it's not solved with v258

About how many days have you survived so far? Are you curing any items in the interiors that are duplicating? We are still trying to figure out whats causing this.

I just had this happen last night entering Carter Dam. Amusingly, I was bleeding to death, sprained, dehydrated, frozen, and exhausted (it wasn't a great playthrough). I was running (limping) away from two wolves and thought I was home free when I made it to the dam. I opened the door, it did the loading screen with the name of the area, and then the screen went black. I did hear some audio from the character complaining about his condition. So it wasn't locked up exactly, but there was no ability to interact with the game and the menu didn't work.

Oh dear... Could you try reinstalling the game? It sounds like some files might have been corrupted.

Sure, I can try that. Do the saves get removed along with the game? Is there any way to keep one? I have a playthrough on my wife's login that is going really well.

I tried loading the save that locked up, and it did load the inside of Carter Dam. I then rushed around trying to find first aid and something to burn so I wouldn't freeze, and wouldn't you know it, up walks Fluffy. I scared him with a flare and ran to the generator room to see if the rifle was there. Amazingly, it was, with one round next to it. I took out Fluffy before the flare died and managed to make a fire. I was getting it back together pretty well, I think.

Then I went into the next area in Carter Dam and it black screen locked up again. He's repeating messages about being over encumbered. In the background I can hear the environmental noises of the dam. I'm going to uninstall and reinstall the game, and we'll see if this happens again. Let's see how it goes!

Reinstalling the game wont affect your save file. Although its possible your save file has been corrupted as well. Hopefully just reinstalling should be enough to fix some of these problems.
