Torches!

While playing at one point I remember being able to pull a torch out of a stove and brandish it. Now I wish we could be able to pull a lit torch from a campfire at any point that burns shorter than the regular torch but is able to scare away wolves I the middle of the night. Without a gun or any flares sleeping in the woods is a hard choice to make.

In my experience, if you manage to get a campfire up, a wolf will growl at you for a while, then run away. I think this is more than fair.

And you can pull torches from fires with enough wood in them to do so (a wolf wouldn't be afraid of a tiny little stick burning IMO). Is that what you were looking for?

I'll have to double check this but I'm pretty sure as long as you have a stick in your inventory and are at any fire you can get a torch.. On Xbox I just tap x when I'm at the fuel screen. I'll get back to you shortly tho

If you have (or make) a fire that has at least 20 minutes of burn time left, on the add fuel page of the fire UI you have the option to take a torch from the fire. Click the button and you will be standing there holding a burning torch.

You can also use a burning torch to light a fire. So if you kill a deer and start a fire to keep you from freezing, take a torch from that fire when you're done harvesting the corpse and use that to light the fire in your base. Saves you a match and it will keep wolves that may be attracted by the smell of all that fresh meat at bay.
