WinterWhite Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Hi, Hinterland I have to ask you to change something in The Long Dark.I'm actually on Xbox One and when I play Thr Long Dark, i have difficulty to see when i'm indoor because it's to dark ... Even in my own base! So change the brightness (indoor ) or allow the player to wash windows just to see something indoor! Thank you for eventual reply and please change this because it's the only bad point of this game .. Keep the good work !
Maninpants Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 +1In some indoor locations (the barn in PV being one of them)... If you stand IN the light, you can see everything but as soon as you walk out of the light it becomes near on pitch black. Fires and, (not so much) natural light should light up the area in the same kind of way that the lantern and flare do but should be a little less obvious. Burning through matches because the natural light doesn't carry is highly frustraing especially when you're in an area where snow-goggles might be worn because outside is SO bright. Maybe the developers have got something planned and we will be able to clear the windows and allow in more light? (I still want more non-instanced buildings for that matter, like the Forestry Lookout and Abandoned Watchtower). Beautiful game but we miss half of it when we are trying to survive indoors!
ThorsHand11 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 +1 or give us some long term way to light up interiors, candles. I hate having to stumble around my house at night just to find my bed.
DrMembrane Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Unless this it was meant to be a styalistic choice, the inside seems too dark, even at noon with windows.
selfless Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Interior darkness is a feature. It makes hidden things only findable by actively looking with a handheld light source. Cuz people like to search for stuff. It's fun.
DrMembrane Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Ok, so it was meant to be a stylistic/gameplay choice, not a simple levels issue then.
Aduron Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 +1 or give us some long term way to light up interiors, candles. I hate having to stumble around my house at night just to find my bed.+1 for candles! I also think that there could be a really interesting "night vision" feature: the longer you stay in the dark, the better your eyes adjust, slowly. That and it would be worse (start darker and take longer) to come from a sunny day into the dark. Same thing at night time outdoors.I also think that light could become a "resource" in the sense that you can only craft/repair/harvest/start fire/etc with adequate light. I say this because light and dark are already such a beautiful part of the game, and it would make candles that much more useful.

Cuz people like to search for stuff. It's fun.Yes , but it's frustrating to be forced to use light in your own base at DAYTIME...The glass cleaning feature would be great , and to keep the "in the dark research" style, the glass cleaning only have to be available when you have FULLY searched a building, that is the case of your base,no?

Thank you for the reply, and thank you for making your possible to improve the player's experience
Colby F Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I agree, It would be nice to have the but it would be better for all players on xbox one if it was a setting. Basically when you press back and go to options you can turn up for gamma/brightness. Thanks
druffzilla Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Keep the current "darkness" for bad weather, but once its sunny it would make sense to have a more light indoors as well.
Gaboris Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Well the darkness is a MUST. I'd say something like this should NOT be changed, BUT as it has been brought up here and many other times on the forums we should have the option to "add long lasting lights" such as clean the windows with rags and water for more natural light(just as cutting off curtains actually lets more light in) and to find/craft candles and DIY oil lamps. So yeah if darkness is a feature then we just need mechanics to make use of it instead of being annoyed by it. Window cleaning, but forget the "see the outside" part since the TARDIS interior system makes this impossible.viewtopic.php?f=59&t=8118Candles and oil lamps:viewtopic.php?f=59&t=8465viewtopic.php?f=59&t=8064viewtopic.php?f=59&t=7673Also fat rendering to fuel them:viewtopic.php?f=59&t=7375
