DrMembrane Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I've found I sometimes have more prybar's than locked containers, now I don't think there should be fewer prybars, because then it will take too long to find one and the early game will be too hard, so I get why there are so many. So I suggest that they can be used to smash ice over an ice-fishing hole, it doesn't make sense that you can't, unless prybars are way lighter than I thought.
Bill Tarling Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 it doesn't make sense that you can't, unless prybars are way lighter than I thought. If it was a crowbar, then maybe slowly chipping at the ice... but smaller/thinner pry bars aren't really made to handle much hacking. It would be possible, but it would take a long time (a pry bar would be more like scraping the ice surface to open up a hole, rather than chopping it). For game purposes the devs might however allow/add it if they feel it's needed.
DrMembrane Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 I was thinking of using it as a blunt instrument to smash the ice, or am I assuming the prybar is heavier than it is?
DrMembrane Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 And if not a prybar, maybe adding a hammer or icepick tool might be helpful, so that your axe (or knife) isn't used for everything.

I tend to avoid using my hatchet (when possible) for anything other than gathering wood and harvesting saplings since they're more valuable in the game now.

So that may be part of the confusion.I just don't fish at all. Using a knife to open a fishing hole take 10% of the condition (assuming the hole is fully frozen), with a hatchet it's 5%. I think both knives and hatchets are better used for something else and the return in calories for the cost in time and materials with fishing is just too poor to even bother with it. Especially now those fishing tackles can also be used to craft/ repair clothes now.

It may resemble a crowbar from some angle, but it's a flat piece of bent steel.Only crowbar currently visible in the game is the icon of equipment in the inventory.

Wasn't in a position to start up the game to check it.
DrMembrane Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 I thought a prybar would still be heavy enough, but I guess I'm wrong, I just know tool-wear is becoming a problem and, as maple seems to be impossible to find in coastal highway, hunting is limited. And trapped seems almost not worth it considering how lean rabbit meat is.
