phone sound (?) outside

when i walk outside, 1 or 2 times a day, i hear some sound that (to me) is more like a phone sound

what is this sound supposed to be ? (i'm not canadian but i live in french alps and i never heard that kind of sound )

I think it's a woodpecker pecking on a chimney, which apparently is something a woodpecker pecks.

i was totally outside but close to a bridge

maybe he was pecking the bridge

i'll stay aware to this sounds and watch the environment (but i'm mostly in the woods, no houses)

edit : ok, seems really to be the same sound

Male Woodpeckers peck on metal because it makes more noise, more noise means that they are noticed more by a potential mate.

In game the sound is used to help guide the player to a nearby building if they happen to be lost in the woods somewhere. We try to use lots of sounds to help players move through our world.
