Tent would be nice

Hmmmm.. what sort of tent, and why do you think it would be helpful? There's already quite a few building and other places that offer better shelter..

Ya there's a lot of shelter, but what if you're starving, freezing and exhausted? You can't eat in the cold or you risk dying. I would rather spend that 30m risking setting up a survival tent and gather some warmth and at and then finally rest it off. They already provide you with a bed roll, so why not?

This is a great idea!

I don't see a tent providing warmth on it's own. Especially a tent that is light enough to carry around with you all the time. Sure it will contain some of your own body heat and offer some wind protection, but not a great help if you're already freezing.

You're better off just starting a fire. Also, the condition loss from starving is very small-- shelter is more important.

All a tent would do is get you out of the wind. Useful, even life-saving perhaps, but if you are already freezing, there are "more effective" things you can do.

Oh, and with most "modern" tents, you can't build a fire in or near them. So, you would be out of the wind, but you won't be getting any heat. A "Baker Tent" can have a fire built inside of it, but they can't really be carried by one person (http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categorie ... AN-TO-08-F)

In reality, the first thing you should look for in a survival situation is shelter, then immediately after, fire. The two kind of "go together". With 99% of tents, the "fire" requirement is unable to be satisfied. I would rather hug up close to a big ol' rock (to get out of the wind), build a fire away from it, the build a shelter from tree limbs, as opposed to setting up a tent.

The villain in me wants a tent to be added, but only if single-wall, just so players can experience at least in a video game, if implemented as it should, the ridiculous amount of condensation. Sleep for eight hours in a tent like that and everything is literally dripping or frozen or both. Fun! And hey, clothes can get wet and frozen, that's in the game.

This is the reason why my gear set is a woobie (ponch liner), a body bag, a tarp and a mosquito net. I dont bring out the sleeping bags until it gets under 40. I then have a standard service issue (down to zero) and extreme cold weather sleeping bag (-60, I think).

The kicker for most is the body bag. They are impervious to water. One of them and a sleeping bag, you will be soaking in sweat. I have slept outside, on the hood of a hummer in my sleeping bag + woobie + body bag combo and was toasty warm during blizzard like conditions. I think the body bag, and the tarp, are the most under used and under appreciated tools in a woodsman's kit. The real one-two punch though is they are cheap and light weight. They both offer methods to keep the survivor off the ground and out of the elements.

While I don't really care if the devs put out a sleeping bag, some sort of tarp or screen would be extremely handy. I don't care if the screen is made out of snow, branches, a lean-to, tarp, rocks, whatever. Some way to limit the impact of wind and/or retain heat (by reflection or absorption/release) would be fantastic.
