sir ice Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 i was very cold, ran inside, pressed checked my temperature to make sure i was getting warmer, but i got hypothermia...
altobar2073 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 hypothermia means 2 things in the game- you're freezing, getting colder : you can go inside and get warmer after a short time. you won't see hypothermia in your illness status- you're ill, you're getting sick because of hypothermia and must treat that illness by staying 24H inside a warm place
octavian Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 The way hypothermia works, loosely speaking, and naively put, as I can't do better, is this:If the player is freezing, count beans. Just, start putting beans in a pot and count them.If the player is not freezing, count beans. Just, remove beans from the pot and count them. If, at any point, number of beans in the pot is greater than x, player gets hypothermia.Even if you're getting warmer, it takes time to stop freezing, time during which the game still adds beans to the pot and counts them.I hope that clears it up.

Hypothermia is defined by your core body temperature, so that's your bean count, and the in-game condition "freezing" probably translates to a state of lowering core body temp. The thing that would make it a bit more realistic to me would be to change your bean-counting speed to match the ambient temperature, and to add "mild hypothermia" as well (because beans at x-1 versus beans at x makes all the difference), which triggers as soon as you start freezing but is not so bad to recover from.

Jeremy JPOW Powell Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Once freezing the hypothermia counter begins before it's triggered. If you are close to that threshold and enter an interior the cold bar will begin to go down if the feels like is above 0 C. You are still freezing when the bar is in the red, it will go away once it's lowered a bit. so with that little bit of time where you are still freezing when you entered an interior and being close to the hypothermia threshold before you entered, is why you got hypothermia when you were inside warming up. You hit the threshold to trigger Hypothermia before you could get out of freezing.Stay Warm folksJeremy
