SonoftheThrone Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Introduce mirrors into the game in order to see the character. Simple: break a mirror, craft a weapon from the shard. Defend yourself against attacking wildlife. USE shard in place of HUNTING KNIFE to remove meat from frozen carcassComplex: USE mirror to shave, cut hair, bandage facial wounds, clean face, light TINDER w/ reflected light.Sincerely,SonoftheThrone
Majales Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 There isn't character model in game at all. So there is no need for mirrors.
SonoftheThrone Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 There isn't character model in game at all. So there is no need for mirrors. No hands holding a lantern, no legs making the footprints....just a voice that happens to get hungry, tired, and what not. Now that you mention it, it IS quite disappointing. Not to mention there is no shadow. Up until now, I actually thought that the character had substance. Good point!
Larzush Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 i can only imagine the situation, where you try to cut some meat off a frozen deer with broken mirror piece. It takes forever and you end up just cuttin yourself with it, not to mention the broken glass in your meat -> almost instant death upon eating the meat "you have faded into the long dark" after eating cooked meat

Player 1 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Hi! I'd like like windows made of glass to look out and shoot through
jackattack Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 That would require buildings with "main-map" interiors (better term?)like the lookout towers, as opposed to instanced interiors like just about every other building.I think the best they would be able to do with instanced windows would be preset 2D animations showing the current weather conditions outside. I don't think it would be possible to show animal movement outside the instanced interiors, let alone shoot anything.Have you tried shooting a wolf from one of the railed porches/patios outside a building? As for mirrors, I don't need to see the character. It's better if we don't, IMO. I've been trying to figure out how the movie adaptation will avoid showing the character's face...
octavian Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I think the best they would be able to do with instanced windows would be preset 2D animations showing the current weather conditions outside.I think that would be worse than how it is now.
Player 1 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I dont look at mirrors, like you i dont need to see my char, but in PV there's a farm with a "veranda" with glass and i can see a fat bear roundabout the house, the same bear that had chew me like a bubblegum and leave me near the roof's door with 6% of condition. It should be useful if i can shot some bullets through the windows, aim with a joypad is another stuff that aim with a mouse.

It's supposed to be dangerous. The best strategy seems to be shooting from next to a door you can get to before the bear gets to you, or make sure your health level is 100% so you survive the attack that will follow.
