skivwidget
I installed The Long Dark yesterday via Steam and was excited to play it for the first time. However, every time I try to start the game it crashes. I've included the output log and error files here. Not sure what's wrong, any help is appreciated.error.logoutput_log.txt
Bill Tarling
Looks like you're having graphic initialization issues...If you are getting frequent crashes or you are getting weird lockups, your system might not be set up for the newer DirectX 11 system. You can try booting the game in DirectX 9 mode to see if that corrects the issue for you. From The v.234 Changelog:The game now defaults to DirectX11 (from DirectX 9). If needed, players can still run in Directx9 mode by running tld_dx9.bat or passing -force-d3d9 as a command line parameter when launching the game.In Steam interface, click on "LIBRARY".In games list, right click on "The Long Dark".Choose "Properties"Click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..."Paste into text box "-force-d3d9" without the quotesClick "OK".Click "CLOSE". Jeremy JPOW Powell
It looks like in your log the game is failing to start directX and going right to OpenGL. Do you have DirectX installed on your computer? Are all your drivers up to date? What are your computers specs?Jeremy
Isbjorn601
I am getting frequent crashes on my Mac. Typically happens as the game starts or after the first couple of minutes of play.

skivwidget
Thanks for the help. I just reinstalled Windows on my machine after the last hard drive died. DirectX 11 was up to date, I forgot to update the driver for my graphics card so it wasn't working properly.
