v.065 - Vanishing One Bite Wolf

Walking from Loggers Camp Trailers in direction towards Lookout Tower. A wolf followed at first, but then stopped.

When I got to the rocks along the road [where that backpack is always located on the ground right by the clearcut], I looked around in all directions - no wolf signs. I went to click the backpack, heard an a quick growl, and turned. A wolf was in full face view and took one bite. I click the left mouse button once and there was a yelp and the wolf vanished.

I looked, but there was no wold anywhere (living or dead) and no tracks. The bite caused me to drop to 86% with blood loss, but that was it.

The wolf had appeared from nowhere, and vanished without any trace.

Wow -- I've never seen this one before, and it sounds very mysterious.
