Crash under atypical environment

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as a virtual machine via VirtualBox 4.3.26; the host machine is running Ubuntu 14.04. Let me know if hardware details are desired. I know this is not a typical platform for running anything really, and I don't believe my configuration is "rock solid" - I don't expect everything to work (low priority bug, or PEBKAC). However since you're still coding, maybe it'll prove insightful.

Via steam, I installed to the primary OS vdisk, noticed I was running low on drive space, so I created a 2nd vdisk and a 2nd Steam Library, uninstalled and reinstalled to new vdisk/library. I never attempted to execute the first installation. I consistently get the following error when trying to execute tld.exe via steam :
