Leeanda Posted November 28 Posted November 28 (edited) I haven't tried to use bait in a while so I don't know how long this has been happening. But I tried to add bait while fishing and I couldn't get it to work.pressing the add bait button only made the fishing time go up.. plus after pressing every button except escape (maybe too quickly) I somehow managed to eat a herbal tea.. and I mean not a ready made drink,I mean one of the packets..I had 7 before fishing and now I have six.. I will file a report if course. Edited November 28 by Leeanda 2
UTC-10 Posted November 28 Posted November 28 I have been fishing in Bleak Inlet near Last Resort Cannery at an ice hole I chopped in the ice. I normally don't use bait at that location because I do not see any noticeable improvement in the fishing catch such as heavier trout (inland with whitefish I find bait gets me heavier >700 calorie whitefish which is about the only noticeable beneficial effect I see). When I do use bait, I would prepare a couple fish to get five or six bait which takes a while then when I was prepared to start fishing I could click on the bait and the image of the bait would be in view iirc (all off to one side of the fishing graphic screen below the slot for lures). Then I just set for six hours and start fishing. Typically I would get five or six fish in six hours fishing. No bait seems to get me fish a bit faster. Never had any anomaly such as consuming something occur but then I don't click any buttons as I watch for a fish to appear and then use my mouse button. Did the unbrewed herbal tea taste good? ☕😁 1
Pyroxene Posted November 28 Posted November 28 That sounds worrisome! I hope that doesn't happen to me when I play.

Well it didn't make her sick but she really had a good chew on it.the munching was rather loud😁 1
UTC-10 Posted November 28 Posted November 28 Ten fish in three hours? Never had that good a result. Fishing from the ice hole in an ice fishing hut might get me closer to ten in six hours. I do know that bait, once prepared, goes bad at a rate pretty much all its own and when it gets to ruined it cannot be used but I don't understand what happened in your case. Be nice if bait got trout that was consistently heavier (more calories) like whitefish when caught while using bait. I would also like to see some combo of bait and/or one type of lure bias the catch to the lower level fish like trout or whitefish. I have my reasons why, other than for lamp oil, the larger fish such as salmon just would not be so desirable. Plan to bug that annoying fact, that has existed for quite some time, to Support but it is not a game breaker. 1

I can get 6 at a push ,but rarely.. they were all whitefish though.. I used one of those fish for bait so no more than a few minutes between chopping it up and trying to use it... I always get the weird bugs lol.. I did move to another fishing hut in case it was that hut but still the same problem.. You'd think using bait would've got you better results weight wise... 1
UTC-10 Posted November 28 Posted November 28 It is disappointing that bait does not do for trout what it does for whitefish. It does not even have to be huge. Whitefish have a minimum of 700 calories (raw) with baited fishing but trout is all over the place. Trout along the same lines as whitefish or even a bit less with a minimum of 600 calories or more would be fine. But 164 calorie trout just does not cut it and generally ends up in the bait fish array. Happy Thanksgiving. May your turkey have more than 164 calories of sustenance. 🍽️ 2

I never pay attention to the calories or weight so never noticed .. trout are rarer I think so maybe that's why??? Thank you.. I'm in the UK so don't celebrate it ,but we all have something to be thankful for.. happy Thanksgiving to you too.😊🦃 1
UTC-10 Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I think the devs just forgot that with fishing there were two lower tier fish - whitefish and trout - depending on where the character was fishing and have been too busy to adjust the trout numbers when using bait. Fishing with bait is a matter of trade offs for you spend time and fish to get bait. Inland that pays off in a noticeable fashion but in the coastal areas there is no apparent payoff. The same question applies to the use of lures. I see no noticeable payoff to using them but then I play Pilgrim so maybe the difference does not show up for me in a way that I would notice. I am kind of marking time until Part 6 of the DLC goes live. I hope to be surprised to hear that Perseverance Mills and its environs will be in survival. 😁 1
Leeanda Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 Weirdly I can use bait again...but 14 fish in 3 hours might still be a bug. 2
