Remove Seasonal Event Badges for players who did not get them

Could you consider hiding the locked seasonal badges (like 4DON) for players who did not get them? It’s discouraging to see these unobtainable badges as it makes it feel like the game can never be fully completed. It’s especially tough for those who didn’t own The Long Dark during these events.

This small change would create a fairer experience and help long-time and newer players alike feel they’ve completed the game without missing out on content they couldn’t access. With support for the game ending next year, this would be a great quality-of-life improvement for the community.

Just FYI it is possible to get them through downgrading.  Only doable on Steam though mind you.

I was reading about that topic, and it seems it's no longer possible to do that after the DLC/Tales Update.

In any case, attempting it seems quite risky, as it might compromise your current badges and feats. Plus, it feels a bit like cheating, even though I wasn’t playing the game back then, so it wasn’t possible for me to earn them anyway.

It would be much more convenient if Hinterland simply removed these unobtainable badges for players who did not get them.

Would you be running two separate copies of TLD? If not, does it compromise your current saves?

Basically yes, the previous version is downloaded to a separate folder as described in that thread.  No it will not affect current saves, they will be untouched since they aren't compatible with the version that is downloaded. Yes this is only doable on Steam, console players are stuck with what they have unfortunately.

If you read the thread you will see it is no longer possible after the TALES/DLC update. The game is now built in a different way than it was before. Even before the update you can see that some badges were never possible to get (the Winter Embrace one).

Anyway, i dont think Hinterland want us making this type of modifications to the game files, it would be much easier to just remove these badges

🤦🤦🙇  Oh well, at least playing through it is still possible.  Deleted my above comment so no one gets confused also it was a tad condescending,  sorry.  Although mfuegemann does describe a possible way of transferring them it doesn't seem like anyone has given confirmation that it works so while it may be worth a shot there aren't any guarantees.

Noone can take my badges from me I came from work and played the game half-asleep to get those at the time. Almost every game that has seasonal events have those badges and I've never felt down for those. Hide or not they will be there but you can get them by downgrading your version.

Noone is gonna steal your badges lol. My only request was for them not appear locked for the players who did not get them.

And you can NOT get them by downgrading
