Mikeloeven Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Simple firearm safety mechanic that adds a percent chance of shooting yourself if you attempt to clean or repair a weapon without unloading it first 3
Leeanda Posted October 31 Posted October 31 This has been mentioned before...somewhere... It's not a bad idea but personally it'd drive me nuts..I clean my gun after every use... Plus there's a chance of forgetting to reload ,which I haven't done but I saw someone do it yesterday, with bad results .. I'm not a fan of micro management if I'm honest.. 1
The Feng Hunter Posted October 31 Posted October 31 I love this idea. LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea. The very least one should do is unload the firearm. 🤷
Pyroxene Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Personally, I think there are enough ways to die already 4
Ghurcb Posted November 1 Posted November 1 (edited) Eh... I don't think this would add any meaningful challenge to the game. Just one more step in the process of cleaning a firearm, one more button to click. And when people would inevitably forget to do it, they'd just be annoyed. You can simply assume that unloading the gun is a thing that automatically happens when you clean it. Edited November 2 by Ghurcb 2

If this were the case, then you would have to reload the firearm. For the sake of authenticity AND the promotion of firearm safety, I think it is absolutely a *more* than reasonable request to ask a person accept the risk that, yeah, you could absolutely shoot yourself while working on your firearm if you don’t u load it first. After all, if we are made to clear ice fishing holes at 1% refreezing — which is a good thing! — then taking the time to click “unload” and “load” isn’t that big of an ask.
Leeanda Posted November 2 Posted November 2 That's why there's a disclaimer before you play.. it's not meant to be too realistic..wolves don't hunt people, bears don't always attack and if we tried to goat down a mountain we'd certainly meet a grisly end.. 1
Mikeloeven Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 Goating down a mountain isn't a legitimate game mechanic its an exploit enabled by glitchy physics and sticky terrain features.
Leeanda Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I know, just making a point in general .. like eating cooked meat that's been sat outside for months lol... Not everything is super realistic and it doesn't need to be.. I wasn't having a go at anyone 😊 1
