Cyclone35 Posted October 26 Posted October 26 In terms of immersion and realism, I find the visuals of an animal you harvested to be rather minimal. And I don't mean the animations the character performs when harvesting, I'm referring more to the visual appearance of an animal after harvesting it. If I harvest a hide from a deer, I would expect the deer to no longer have its pelt on and see the meat/muscle of the animal. This kind of visual detail was in a different game (Red Dead Redemption 2). Perhaps the visual gore is too much for certain people to handle. Then again it is a hardcore survival game where you break necks of rabbits and get torn apart by a bear, so you tell me. 2
K3V038 Posted October 26 Posted October 26 I talked about this a while back, it would be a really good thing to see
Leeanda Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Perhaps it might make it feel too much like a horror game ,at least to some.. personally i think it shows enough as it is... And no I'm not squeamish,I grew up watching horror films. 1
Cyclone35 Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 Perhaps there can be a setting that enables/disables visible carcasses. Default will be set to its normal appearance, while "graphic" will have the more visual carcass. It can be toggled on & off for players who can't handle the visual details. 3
ThePancakeLady Posted October 26 Posted October 26 It wouldn't bother me, I spent decades hunting and field dressing kills. But it would very likely bother some other people, and might be an issue with some countries or regions as far as laws go, making the age rating for the game change. I think it's fine as it is, and changing it for every animal we an kill in the game would mean a ton of work for the devs for little return. Gory fully skinned and gutted deer and moose isn't likely to bring in a flood of new customers/players, but it will cost a good bit of money paying the devs to do the work and trying to keep it bug free and optimized for consoles and lower-end rigs. 3
RossBondReturns Posted October 26 Posted October 26 It's not that it can't be done- it's about keeping the rating the game has always had that makes the game available along a larger cross section of gamers. It the same reason that Alcohol/Wine etc have not been added because that could raise the rating of the game. And why a profanity filter had to be added from Wintermute Episode 4. I think that's why this hasn't been added. 3 1
