Lagging on long runs

I'm playing on Xbox one s and since I got past 900+ days on my main run the lagging has gotten worse.. 

It's on every run at some point but usually very brief and only in certain areas..    

I was just wondering if there's anything I can do to reduce it?  I don't want to get rid of the run until Astrid has tried all the new  content but if it becomes unplayable I'll have to..

Would lowering the FPS help?

Any help would be appreciated..
