Pencil Posted October 3 Posted October 3 After finally experiencing a cougar in a vanilla survival save, I fully understand the purpose of the cougar and how it was implemented. It's a great feature that is very much needed in my survival runs (keep me from sitting around too long). But there was one thing that stood out to me that could be frustrating at times; and hopefully it's an easy change since this suggestion is VERY late 😅 Striking the cougar with a bow is hard; we all know it's supposed to be hard, but it's a LOT harder than I expected. The problem is not knowing how close you were to hitting the cougar. As soon as you fire, the screen goes to black. This is fine for the rifle and the revolver since the bullets are instant, and maybe the jolt of the gun knocks you out for a second, but the arrow is much much slower and harder to judge, of course. Thus you can't tweak your later shots because you don't know what you did wrong. Each shot is kind of a wild guess. My suggestion: add a split second of real time after you fire your shot to see where your arrow is heading, before blacking out. That way you can see just a bit of where your arrow is going and how fast the cougar is running (because it runs FAST). You should be able to tell in this very short time if your shot was far off or not. This will give you some information to how to change your next shot (if you ever get another shot). This keeps the difficulty of the bow but helps players learn and improve their shots. Even with this feature, hitting the cougar is so extremely hard if it's moving perpendicular to you, but at least you might be able to tell where you went wrong. 1
