When the boat washes up in DP I can't walk on it without ice crashing, okay you gotta be fast. However after the next blizzard the boat is gone but the gear is still there floating and nothing else will spawn. Some off the stuff I just can't get the ice is too thin.

Is this a bug?

I don't think these are bugs as such, just maybe not quite as intended. Oh, and it's not just DP - this can happen in any of the coastal areas, even little Crumbling Highway.

Obviously I don't know how the RNG determines boat spawns, but sometimes they just spawn somewhere in the weak ice zone, and in that case I think you really just have to accept that it's not really safe to loot that particular fishing boat - if you're quick you might be able to grab a fish or something from the wet bin in the stern, but I certainly haven't been brave enough yet to try any of the containers, let alone the cabin.

When that boat then despawns, it's not uncommon to find the loose items from the boat (not items in containers) still floating in place - the same is true for the kayak and the little rowing boat too (tho those items will just be lying on the ice), and this has been happening since the beachcombing refresh a while back. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hinterland eventually corrected this so the items despawn along with the vessels, but until then just see it as a lucky opportunity to quickly grab a few extra items that might have been out of reach previously.

So far I have only seen the remaining items that were on the fishing boat remain after the fishing boat, or maybe motorized fishing boat would be better description,  disappears.  It is possible to run out to grab one item then run back off the weak ice. I get what I can by repeated attempts then leave the rest be.

It is a problem but I think the "bigger" problem is that because of where the fishing boat is located - on weak ice - that for all intents and purposes it cannot be properly searched i.e. anything within a container/locker or behind a door.  Having the fishing boat disappear removes it from the equation and it becomes a case of "do you feel lucky"? when it comes to grabbing what's left behind.

Definitely a bug.

With the exception of the oars, which used to be readily accessable for harvesting, the overturned boat with fish and gear strewn about and the canoe with arrows can (in my experience) have all other items taken with a bit of care.

I have learned that anything, on weak ice, that has to be searched like lockers, a suitcase, a corpse, or a trunk on weak ice should be left alone.  But that's just me.

I did a bit of beachcombing in coastal this morning to find two fish and a flare gun at eye level..no boat though or anything else..

Also not on weak ice which I would've expected

Thank you😊.

I think I reported it a few updates ago after hitting my head on something while I was walking.

@Leeanda
I wasn't meaning it for anyone specifically... just a general reminder for all the folks who contributed to the thread or read the thread in the future.

I know,thank you😊.  I should've mentioned it myself so I'm glad you did.
