So I was thinking how cool it would be to have an easter egg from other survival games be referenced in TLD. Maybe a plastic hook sitting near the docs (Raft). Or maybe a miniature size furnace placed on a shelf as a decoration (FrostPunk). Maybe a Peeper hung on a wall in 1 fishing hut (Subnautica).

What survival games would you like to see referenced in TLD?

Yeah, I agree. TLD has its own identity, and bringing in very obvious references to other popular survival games would take away from that for me.

I do enjoy the nods toward streamers who helped spread awareness of the game in the very early days, and the usually less obvious and more subtle references to movies, books, and TV (the Bear Grylls reference is the one really obvious one, IMHO).

I'm a huge fan of the Canadian art history Easter Eggs that are all over this game. However, it's probably beyond most folks to recognise them as I'm sure most of us here are not super familiar with early 20th century Canadian artists. For example, here's a Tom Thomson from 1915, which strongly reminds me of a place in PV:

Another one is this Emily Carr painting from 1929, which is very reminiscent of the church in MT:

complete with the crosses in the graveyard surrounding it.

There are others; when you see mountains off in the distance they are often very similar to how Lawren Harris painted them:

Great Bear is replete with them.

Gonna necro this with a TLD/Hinterland easter egg from a truly great game that almost nobody played; Descent's true 21st century successor, Overload:

This was a great game, and it's really unfortunate that the old Parallax guys couldn't get control back of their game IP from whoever owns those particular cinders of the smoking ruins of Sierra.
