upnorth Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) It occured to me that it would be cool to be able to avoid confronations with predators besides by just keeping your distance. I am aware that simply playing on very easy settings makes animals afraid of you, but I think it could add an interesting dynamic to Interloper as well. Learning to improve your odds by mitigating the risk of attacks. Not really sure how you would build that "trust", perhaps by only fighting back with your hands when attacked or something? The purpose would be to be able to save ammo traveling through dangerous areas, or if you simply don't want to hurt animals at all. Also, bears and timber wolves could require a higher ability than regular wolves for example. With no protection during Auroras etc. In terms of gameplay it could be some kind of quick event where a higher ability gives you more time to react. Or as a new feat perhaps. K3V038 Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I get being lucky and warning an animal off by screaming or something, but straight up turning into some Indian cobra whisperer? I dont like the sound of that 2

Leeanda Posted September 16 Posted September 16 The more you engage with predators in a run would affect how they behave towards you? A kind of bonus for surviving longer? 1

So they learn not to bother because they only ever lose. 1

I dont like the sound of that Yeah, I agree with this. ^^^ This isn't Far Cry Primal. Predators who are acting in atypical ways on normal days in the game, and are acting even more erratically and atypically during Auroras are not going to be tamed or made to respect you. These animals are hungry, and you are a potential meal for them. You will never stop being a potential meal for them. You. Taste. Good. To. Them. You. Will. Always. Taste. Good. To. Them. When the Cougar comes back, try to get the Big Cat Killer Feat. It's a little OP, IMHO, but it also isn't as easy to get as it might seem (in a non-modded game). It doesn't let you tame predators, but it does let you get closer to animals without being detected and triggering fear or aggro- useful in any experience mode, super powerful in Stalker and Loper. I played and enjoyed Far Cry Primal- and I don't want this game to be changed to be more like that game, or any other game. I love this game because it *is* different than other games that came before it or were released around the same time. And if I want predators to fear me and stay off my back- Pilgrim is a thing, Custom Settings for Hostile Wildlife- Yes/No is a thing that can be used for any mode. Love everything about Interloper except the toothy things trying to eat your face all the time? Custom Settings > Interloper template > Hostile Wildlife > No (Off). 3
upnorth Posted September 17 Author Posted September 17 Didn't know that was a thing in Far Cry Primal. There was a scene in the Yellowstone series that made me think it might actually be pretty realistic even in a harsh and gritty game like TLD. I'd like to be able to earn their fear or even respect, that would be the only way to make it fun gameplay. Easier settings just makes it boring. But, I agree that a big part of the charm of this game is that you are exposed and have to be aware of risks so there might not be a good way to do this.
