Pretty self explanatory, in episode 3 it is mentioned that the dead were kept in the basement, however has anyone else noticed that in both story mode and survival mode the entrance to the basement is there if you exit out from the kitchen, yet you cannot enter it. I’m guessing this has always been like this, since PV has been in the game for a very long time, and was remastered when episode 3 came out. I wonder if it’s on purpose as to not make the location too op? Personally I think it would be cool for the basement to be added, what do you guys think?

Would it be interesting?

Maybe.

Would it possibly be more work than you are thinking it might be?

Maybe.

I don't think that location needs a room full of dead bodies and bones added- for people who haven't played Wintermute Story Mode, a basement full of bodies or bones with boxes of bingo cards scattered around might be a bit confusing, and in Survival mode Thompson's Crossing is a fairly loot-rich location (in modes other than Misery or Interloper) as it is. And it would be really disappointing for people expecting a treasure trove of loot if they made it like the basement at the Abandoned Harris Home in the OIC instead of like the basement at the PV Farmhouse- small, not a ton of loot, and full of dead bodies? Nope.

Well, I was not suggesting having the basement full of corpses, however I just feel in a game world continuity sense it would make sense to be able to go in the basement if the entrance is there lol. Overall I do agree that it probably isn’t worth the time designing a unique interior for a space you haven’t been able to enter for years. Just as you said it would be interesting, I also think it would be interesting if you could get to the attic space above the stage in the main room of the hall too, but nonetheless it would probably be useless

Well Molly's husband body is not in the farmhouse basement in sandbox mode. The crashed plane is bodyless as well. So the basement under Community Hall does not have to be full of bodies. But I am fine with the basement not accessible there. There is lot of locked doors on the island. One more does not matter to me. Plus since I have played the wintermute, I would go there with unease feeling. Or maybe rather never.

It sure is full of bodies though, or at least one, as it has a cross marker by the door. It's not included as a grave in As the Dead Sleep, though.
My headcanon is that the bodies went in there, and then it was permanently sealed with some appropriate reverence and ceremony.

I think we also have to consider that the events we experience in the Survival Sandbox are set in an undisclosed period of time after the events of Wintermute.  This creates the possibility of Father Thomas potentially having time to lay folks taken by the plane crash to "rest" before he also ended up disappearing from Thompson's Crossing.  Also, given that Molly was found out by Astrid... I think it's safe to say that Molly would have likely prioritized getting rid of her "little secret" to ensure she didn't get found out again (by someone far less forgiving as Astrid).

Not naysaying, just offering a possible explanation.

My current pilgrim run had no body at the airplane. I think it is RNG. As for burying bodies. I dont think it would be possible to bury them. Here in mountains was common the body waited till spring if there was not enough graves prepared at autumn. Of course it was before heavy machinery. But heavy machinery is not working on Great Bear. I thimk I am just overthinking it wintermute and sandbox has connection only in our minds. Anyway I would rather not visit tomb.

That sounds like a bug... Aside from a few years ago when it was a definite bug ,I've always had bodies at the crash site..

Agreed on the rest ...digging would take quite a lot of time and effort ,and father Thomas wouldn't be up to a job that big..

There is a big infini-fire out in front of the Community Hall (in Wintermute)... just saying. 😋
