Pyroxene Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Spoiler At the end of episode 4, Will is still in Blackrock. Will that mean he still has to trek through Keeper's Pass North, South and Pleasant Valley to get to Perseverance Mills? That could be quite a challenge.
Leeanda Posted August 16 Posted August 16 I'm guessing some bits will be cut out because there's a lot to get through ,at least the story itself.. so many questions lol.. 3
Cr41g Posted August 16 Posted August 16 that's not that far... it's a day, maybe it will be a chapter of epic proportions 1 1
ElSuperGecko Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Well, there's a number of ways to address this, but the most obvious would be: Spoiler The final chapter could begin from Astrid's perspective. She's already in Perseverance Mills, so we could start there, before switching back to Will later on in the chapter when he arrives in the region. I'd be surprised if we didn't get so see at least some of Episode 5 played from Astrid's perspective. Mind you, we don't necessarily need to see all the travelling between regions. A jump in location/time wouldn't be unusual for Wintermute: Spoiler Chapter 2 ends with Will being ambushed by Mathis in Carter Hydro Dam. Chapter 4 begins with him being escorted towards Blackrock Prison, a considerable distance from where we left him. 3

nautofon Posted August 16 Posted August 16 I don't think the location at which Will ends up at the end of E 4 is one that's currently accessible in the Blackrock region. So getting from there to Keeper's Pass may not even be possible. At the same time, they are close to a river, and all rivers eventually lead to the coast, where Perseverance Mills is almost certainly located, based on the little preview that we see. So this is actually pretty easy to resolve for the developers—if we even get to play Will at that point, which I think we probably should, as he ends up in a rather interesting survival situation. 2

Ah interesting idea! So you think the river would've flushed him closer?
nautofon Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Flushed closer, maybe that too, yes. Mostly I think there is an easy route to follow navigation-wise, quite possibly much shorter than getting to the coast through PV. So if the devs let us make the journey, then I think along the river is the route that they would choose to use. Otherwise, I suppose they would have to figure out how we get past Mathis's goons back at Blackrock, then past Molly and Father Thomas in PV, all of which might make the storytelling challenging. Not that I know the story that they want to tell of course, so we'll have to wait and see. 1

I don't think that this is necessarily the case. At the end of Episode 4 we see that Will and Jace are swept away by fast moving waters to some unspecified location, but it isn't clear where exactly this took them. Similar to Astrid's cutscene (at the end of Episode 3, I believe) the narrative could be a period of time where characters travel around 'off-screen' in lieu of gameplay.
