MrWolf Posted August 9 Posted August 9 How about an option with the handheld radio from the Tales where it acts as a metal detector during an aurora, within a fairly small range? That would be useful for finding lost arrows. 2
UTC-10 Posted August 10 Posted August 10 I think that's asking much more than what the devs would consider plausible (but that's just me). It is a radio receiver. It is not a tricorder capable of actively sensing things at some distance from itself. It might also require a lot more work than the devs probably would want to expend to make something like that workable in the game, if it can be made workable. A plausible option would be the capacity - a new setting - for the receiver that would allow it to detect the aurora-powered Signal Void transmitters when it is present in the appropriate region. A way to get oriented towards a known point even through the thickest of glimmer fogs. Another plausible though unlikely option since it would require a new device, would be a transponder (that the character can find and later drop) that goes active during the aurora or glimmer fog that transmits a signal the receiver can pick up and help the player home in on.
MrWolf Posted August 10 Author Posted August 10 I'm not claiming to know what the developers would consider plausible or how much work they'll want to do, but it's just wishful thinking for a way to find arrows that are out there somewhere after shooting a wolf or deer that runs off and isn't found before it despawns. And I realize that it's very late in the lifecycle of this game to be adding new functionality. I've completed the tales and now the radio is useless (in fact, it never needs to be equipped after picking it up if you know where the bunkers and caches are). I'm just thinking of some other ways the radio could be used. 2
Sebastian1992 Posted August 10 Posted August 10 I like the idea, it's always annoying to find they back or lose them..... 1
Talavaj Posted August 10 Posted August 10 I'm personally speculating that the radio will be used to contact the "trader" advertised as part of the last update. Perhaps the "trader" won't be a physical NPC, just an air drop that you will have to contact using the radio, or something like that. 2
Lexilogo Posted August 11 Posted August 11 IMO an item that tells you if there'll be an Aurora/Glimmer Fog in the next 24 hours would be great for the game, and the radio could easily fill that position, have it pick up tiny bits of static if one's upcoming. Would also make waiting for auroras/glimmer fog during Tales a smoother experience. 2
