Haven't been in the airfield in awhile so hadn't dealt with insomnia at all recently. I don't usually try to avoid insomnia either, so not sure if this is a bug:

When I go underground, insomnia risk decreases as expected (although time spent doing something seems to reduce insomnia by 5% no matter how long it took - 1 hr crafting vs 15 min breaking down a crate both reduced by 5%). HOWEVER when I go back above ground, my insomnia risk meter shoots up to some very high number, as if I hadn't spent any time underground at all.

E.g. - head below ground at ~85% risk. Risk decays to ~65% while below ground. Head back upstairs and risk instantly is up to 97%. This has happened at least twice now.

Is this how it worked before and I just forgot? Or is this weird?

I’ve had a similar experience coming out of the Main Hanger Basement.

A completely different anomaly occurred both in Sundered Pass’s cave system and Rüdiger’s Basement — neither place has provided respite from Insomnia.

Finer point: I experimented with the Cave System. If you venture deep into the cavern itself, toward the very centre, you can be granted reprieve from the glimmer fog. But this did not happen until I hit the first triple junction. To ensure I would be cleared of risk, I stayed underground until Dusk.

In addition, the Insomnia affliction tends to clear more quickly without as much waking than before Part 5 of TFTFT. I don’t know if this was intentional or not.

Hopefully, this feedback proves useful!

Something similar happened to me, I went from the Conveyor room down into the mine, where I checked the risk and saw it decreasing, then went back up again and instantly received Insomnia.

I hadn't considered it explicitly but I've also been able to sleep through the night without getting interrupted almost every time. I assumed it's luck but perhaps not?

I've had insomnia twice..the first time I could sleep through for 7-8 hours uninterrupted.this was in the workers cabins in the zone.

The second time I  can't remember where I was exactly but I got no sleep at all...    I'm presuming it's just rng ....

Compared to the original deployment of the Affliction as designed when it dropped in Forsaken Airfield — multiple awakenings during a one hour period allowing for no sleep .. it could be lethal given the right conflagration of events!

I’m guessing it’s bugged. There’s no way Hinterland would have nerfed an Affliction this hard and not have told us about it.

I ignore insomnia risk, the actual affliction is very mild.

The only reason to care is if you play IL with starvation tactic, and rely on sleep to replenish health bar. In all other situations, why even bother worrying about it.

I suspect that when entering a place which shields from the Glimmer fog effects (insomnia risk) that while your risk counter will go down the game seemed to have its own counter that rises as if you were still standing outside.

It might be a kind of inverse effect for I do know that if I had even  a tiny bit (i.e. 1%) of insomnia risk it was possible when  I stepped out of the sheltered area to immediately get the insomnia affliction.

I still think that the onset of Insomnia affliction should have a different utterance and the current utterance should be reserved for WHEN insomnia FORCES the character to awaken and interrupt sleep.
