Eli Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Will the long dark have an end after the DlC and Wintermute episode 5. Does someone know if Hinterland gave Informations about it. (Sorry for my bad english)
Leeanda Posted August 4 Posted August 4 You're English is great😊. Ralph has said that perseverance might ,or might not be added to survival.. there's nothing definite either way ,but who knows what's in the future. He has made a few comments lately regarding the future ,but I can't do links I'm afraid.. maybe check out his comments from his profile page.
UTC-10 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Since TLD is a single-player game, obviously it will continue except with the end of the DLC and Wintermute Episode 5 updates to the game might become non-existent. How long updates might continue would be a real question. If the game continues to be fairly popular and generates some decent income for Hinterland they might continue to provide some bug fixes and maybe even some new things in the game but that would be up to them. I think the originating idea for the DLC was to see if they can make it something worthwhile to continue to work on (paid content). Gotta pay the devs and programmers and others to do stuff. I would guess that Hinterland would be planning on some extension to support for TLD past the DLC otherwise things like the Trader, if implemented, and Customization of Safe Houses, if implemented, would have been a ridiculous waste of player expectations and developer time. I would not expect updates and hotfixes to continue forever but for awhile I would hope to see something. 2
turtle777 Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Would love to see more DLCs, but I think Ralph indicated that they are ready to move on with developing the next game. I doubt they're going to spend much resources on TLD after Episode 5 concludes. It's a small studio, they just don't have the resources to keep a title going, even IF the DLC were making enough money. It's a matter of limited resources and focus.
