Why is this free spirit all by himself on Mystery Lake?

Do ptarmigans actually fly off and land someplace else when you startle them?  I've never seen an out of bounds ptarmigan before.

That's really interesting, because I have seen lone ptarmigans in random locations in Mystery Lake as well. I think they despawn when they fly away but maybe they have a chance to show up at random spots. Or maybe it's a bug lol

I always assumed they were off to the shadow realm when they flew away.

Some do scarper quite a way from the others if they're startled but I don't think that far ..

He's about 30 ft. / 10 m away from the closest fishing hut to Camp Office.
