Where are the best places to build snow shelters in Sundered Pass?

Personally, I like to place one at the entrance to the region and one below the high bridge between two cliffs.

Is it possible to make one in the cave at the top of Ogre's Teardrop (near Perilous Crossing)?

I've been caught out with low stamina in the area between the two rope climbs a couple of times now, it might be good to have a shelter there...

I think a snow shelter would have to be on a patch of snow large enough to accommodate the shelter.

It has been a long time since I made one (more for the experience of making one) but I recall that back then the warmth bonus of the snow shelter was reduced because it was really good when first introduced.  Also I do not recall if wet clothes do or don't get wetter while in a snow shelter which poses a possible frozen clothes danger and potential frostbite risk.

I've used them a couple of times recently when navigating around Forlorn Muskeg and Ash Canyon (the ones that spawn rather than building my own) - I don't remember having any issues with wet or frozen clothing though.

I'm in Sundered Pass at the moment so I might give it a try later!

If you use the snow shelters wisely, they are great for restoring stamina whilst walking long distances

I have always avoided snow shelters strictly because the decay rate is too harsh... the one thing I would love to be able to make is a quinzee...simple and easy...

BUT in order to make it more game relevant...because everything has to have an associated cost...we would need a new tool...a shovel...and the construction time should be long for the quinzee...unlike the snow shelter.

What's a quinzee? A dug out kind of thing?

How about using deer hides instead of cloth?  I never use them.

A quinzee differs from and igloo in that the quinzee is packed snow and then dugout....where an igloo is made up of blocks..

Oh I see.. thank you....

Kind of like the ones I used to make in snowdrifts as a kid.. only safer.

Update:  Yes, you can build a snow shelter in the waterfall cave.  It's a handy spot, having a shelter midway between Last Lonely House and the Weather Station.  It also has a pretty cool (heh) ambience in there as well, especially during an Aurora.

However:  It's f-f-f-f-f-f-uh-fuh-freezing.  Most of the ground inside is uneven, so there's only a few places where you can place the shelter, and although it provides cover from snow the wind can blow right through the cave.  My campfire didn't last too long.

The combination of snow shelter and down bedroll kept me warm, but without a location sheltered from the wind and a campfire I'm not sure how good it'll be on the higher difficulties.

Only tried to build a snow shelter to do fishing out of. Couldn't find a spot that worked.

Was able to build a shelter close to lake, but couldn't reach the ice holes from within. Shame.
