Leeanda Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I find it unlikely that they will add any more areas.. @Raphael van Lierop has said that we may or may not get perseverance mills and it sounds like ruperts landing is either part of or connected to it.. either way its unlikely. But we already have lots of maps to play on anyway.. 2

Leeanda Posted July 19 Posted July 19 If @Raphael van Lierop isn't sure about adding perseverance then I doubt he'll add other places either.at least in survival.. It could be in winter mute ,even as just a passing transition zone for Will but who knows .. Personally I don't think we' need ' anything added .. @Pyroxene I believe it was mentioned in a note somewhere.. 2

I would love to see more regions added to the base game. For those who cannot afford TFTFT.

I'm not saying I wouldn't like them added, just that they're not needed... But I get that there are those who would , especially if they haven't got the tales .. Personally I'd love tld to keep going forever but that's not practical or remotely likely but we can dream😁 2
K3V038 Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Port mary is about noth-west of milton i think, there are a bunch of notes and all mentioning it, just saying that cargo and a lot of diffrent things came from the mainland to great bear through that place so it was extremely important to the islanders and the economy etc, It would only make sence to make it a place we can loot and live in, it has coastal acces, and Urban areas so it could be a cool thing to see, kind of like bleak inlet mixed with coastal highway and milton 1
Hinterland Raphael van Lierop Posted July 19 Hinterland Posted July 19 We won't be adding Port Mary or Rupert's Landing to the game. These are lore locations described in various collectibles but we have no intention of adding them. I just want to say that to remove any expectation people might have around this. As others have noted, the world is already huge (even if you don't purchase TALES). I think TLD has one of the biggest open worlds of any game now (haven't verified this recently...)? The world of GBI and the Far Territory are bigger than what you will get to experience in the game, unfortunately, but that also leaves stuff open for the future... 5 2
Leeanda Posted July 19 Posted July 19 (edited) If it really is one of the biggest open worlds ,then that's an awesome achievement for you and the Devs .. so much work from one map to over 14(?) including the transition zones... 💗. Kind of curious how big it actually is in relation to others ,and in square miles.. Edited July 19 by Leeanda 3
Hinterland Raphael van Lierop Posted July 19 Hinterland Posted July 19 @Leeanda Quote Kind of curious how big it actually is in relation to others ,and in square miles.. I can't offer miles, but I can do square KMs. We did this research internally for "reasons" 😅 and came up with the following metrics/numbers. By our estimation TLD + TALES is about the same size as the Elden Ring, RDR2, or GTA V worlds and bigger if you count the transition from GBI to the FT. (Of course, our world is built in regions with transition zones like the Stalker games (excepting 2), vs. being seamless open-world like most of the others below, and really it's less about the size of a world and more about what there is to do in it. So some of the "smaller" worlds below might actually feel bigger than ours!) *** The Long Dark - 69km2 + ~20-22km2 for the Far Territory (Total: ~90 km2) (For reference, the Far Territory regions are: Airfield (3x3), ZoC (2x2), Sundered (2x3) + Transfer Pass + the long transition zones from BR) By the time we ship Ep5, I imagine we'll be getting very close to 100 km2. *** Valheim - 314 km2 (procedurally generated) Arma 3 - 270km2 Tears of the Kingdom - 160km2 Assassin's Creed Valhalla (England, Scandinavia, other spoilery place) - 120 km2 Cyberpunk 2077- 90km2 GTA V - 81km2 Elden Ring - 79km2 Mad Max - 77km2 Red Dead Redemption 2 - 75km2 Breath of the Wild - 72km2 Far Cry 6 - 68km2 (about a third is water though) Stalker 2 - 65km2 Far Cry 2 - 50 km2 - this is 2 separate "worlds" in terms of how it is constructed with a hard load between North and South. The Witcher 3 - 54km2 Far Cry 4 - 42.5km2 Fallout 76 - 41km2 Red Dead Redemption - 31km2 Far Cry 5 - 30km2 Fallout 4 - 25km2 Horizon Zero Dawn - 22km2 Oblivion - 41km2 Skyrim - 39km2 Fallout 3 - 21.7 km2 Morrowind - 16km2 Sons of the Forest - 9km2 8
ManicManiac Posted July 19 Posted July 19 (edited) I definitely remember when GBI surpassed Skyrim but wow, to have reached an expanse of ~90km² is fantastic! Also... thank you so much for the listing you tracked down. I love that GBI is bigger than San Andreas, and Night City (proper). 😆 Edited July 20 by ManicManiac 3

Either way it's very impressive .. there's a few surprises in that list... Most of the far cry and GTA v do seem to feel a lot smaller..at least to me.. (driving a souped up sports car might be the reason for GTA v though😁) Thank you for the information.its very interesting and mustve taken up some of your very limited spare time.. 2
