Changes to cheat death

When talking about cheat death i think its viable to consider that if it is impossible to survive then there might as well not be a cheat death option.

Also i only tried cheat death on interloper so my opinions might be biased from that.

I think its near impossible to survive on interloper on cheat death, the most deadly thing is lack of making water. Unless you luckily spawn near a place where you have stashed water or toilets its like near impossible to survive.

On the contrary you can also spawn a place you already have looted so now theres nothing to survive on.

Here is what i like to change. Give the player a used can, but it is broken in such a way that you cant boil water. And two tablets to make clean water. You need 2 liter of clean water if you get dysentery.

We also need more matches right now we only get 2 or 3. Maybe we need 10 or something. You could make them so they deteriorate fast like after 10 days they are broken.

Another thing is that we are to believe we get 3 chances but in reality we only get 1. After we die after first respawn, we spawn with nothing. So now its completely unrealistic to survive. So give the player the same items on 1st 2nd and 3rd respawn.

And if you wanna be funny you can give the player a small piece of cheese, i mean the player is cheesing.

The choice to cheat death is meant to make you think ,is it worth the risk...  And yes while you are personally left with little,even on pilgrim I had no can on respawn, but you're supposed to find your gear on the map and retrieve it.. of course you won't get it all back but  it should be enough to keep you going..

It's also a good reason to make sure you have supplies elsewhere stashed away,as you would on longer runs..  

I don't think it's cheesy at all.. I think it's well thought out and yes it's tough but that's the point of it..

IMO this is fair. You could've created supply stashes instead of leaving regions barren. For water especially, it's quite easy to do.

I also think this is fine. You can use torch chaining to make those matches last quite a while.

 

I do agree that Cheat Death could be adjusted to make survival a bit more fair. IMO survival should always be possible using the feature, even on Interloper, and glitches aside there are definitely situations where survival is currently impossibly unfair from Cheat Death. I'd just make different changes, eg:

• The safe spawn option can no longer spawn you in regions with Timberwolves
• You start with an infinite stamina effect for ~30 secs or so, similar to the Emergency Stim, so you have a brief window to sprint freely and experienced players can use that window to get to safety

I'd posit that if we are "cheating death," then whatever circumstances we find ourselves in are already more than fair... especially considering that the alternative was death.

Survival's never "impossible" (improbable... maybe)
We do sometimes just have to struggle a little harder, but ultimately it can be done.

I think its fair to say that cheating death is HARD and would'nt disagree to get a recycled can back when doing so, BUT that wouldnt guarantee our survival, at least it wouldn't be another frustrating death (aka dying of thirst), There are so many other dangers like starting at low hp, during the night, with reduced vision and in a blizzard.
