New interloper run - about an eights of rest meter blocked off in red

Not sure what's going on.  My rest meter will only fill up about 7/8 with the last 1/8 blocked off in red, and there is a small yellow circle with an exclamation mark in it at the bottom. No afflictions at all. Anyone have any ideas?

 

Update: guess this is do to starvation. Had to resort to that tactic on this run. Problem solved.

Well observed, @Spook.  

You are correct.  After a set length of time at 0 calories, the additional "starvation" effect kicks in... that "silent affliction" is a growing rest/fatigue recovery cap.
