K3V038 Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Now you have to spend 5-25 hours on reading a skill book, all depending on the guide youre reading. If you are reading a book and decide to stop, you will stop at a specific hour, and I dont like that. The ammount of times i was reading, only to be stopped at 99.9% of a hour and forced to repeat the action, because "its too dark to read" etc. is driving me nuts... It would be better, when the player was reading, and stopped, they would stop at maybe 4.36 hours, and could finish the book with 24 minutes, instead of repeating the hour. It would also be great for cooking. For example, deer meat cooks for 45 minutes, a hour of reading is too much...
Razum Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Try the mod "Better Reading Intervals". Addresses exactly that. But I also just agree with you. It should be vanilla.
ThePancakeLady Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 I do wish reading skill books was set in 30 minute intervals, rather than 1 hour, or if it got too dark to read the game would credit you with a half hour instead of erasing an almost full hour. The mod is only useful if I am on PC- but does nothing for me if I am playing on XBox or Switch, or for folks playing on PS4/5. I understand why it's done in 1 hour increments- time is a resource just like rest is and we need to plan things carefully to go from surviving to thriving. Maybe if it was added to Custom Settings, so it wouldn't make getting the Book Smarts Feat any easier than it already is, but wouldn't mess with the Penitent Scholar achievement at all. I would love to be able to read for 30 minutes while boiling 2 cans of water, instead of just sitting there if I have no other < 30 minute crafting or prep work I can do, but have multiple books I could be working on reading instead of just passing time. 3
