In times like this when an update is anticipated to be (somewhat) soon, I get bored of playing normal survival play throughs because I may want to restart after the new update drops.

So, I'm trying to think of some fun survival minigames to try while I wait. Something that won't last very many in-game days. Have any ideas? Here are some I've tried:

Living with a Wolf:

- Spawn next to Scruffy's cave in DP, never leave the cave.

- Or use the time capsule to downgrade to a previous build with Fluffy in the Dam.

Kegstand:

- Spawn in FM on Interloper, never leave the region.

Literally just Build v.236 Silent Hunter:

- Use the time capsule to downgrade and play Silent Hunter. Very limited resources and lethal wildlife attacks. Runs usually don't last long.

And that's really all I've found to be short enough to do in a couple of days. Of course you can go for really long on Kegstand but chances are, you won't lol. Any other minigames you all enjoy?

Look Ma! I Have No Shoes!- no shoes or boots allowed- your character can never wear more than just socks on their feet.

Too easy?

The Streaker!- Your character can only wear hats, gloves, and socks. No other clothing or gear at all (no accessories either!).

True Vegan Run- no animal-based foods allowed (no pork & beans, no condensed milk, no dog food (made with real beef!), no chocolate bars (made with milk chocolate- tsk tsk!), no tins of sardines), no harvesting or hunting of any animal, no animal skins- based clothing (that includes leather clothing- running shoes or ski boots are okay because the guy at the store swore they were made of pleather, not leather). You can harm a wolf or timberwolf, but only in self-defense- you can't harvest the carcass if it dies- and fists, prybars or heavy hammers only for self-defense (drive them off instead of stabby stabby or bang bang- you can use the revolver, but can't take a shot if the option comes up during the struggle). MREs are allowed- the stuff our governments give to our troops *never* include real meat, right? You'll learn to love Vegetarian Airline Food and MREs for Vitamin C!

I have a few ideas for challenges, including 1 i came up with for vanilla hardcore minecraft to make it harder that i thought of levels of it for this game, but unfortunately it's not a"Something that won't last very many in-game days" cause if do it right you could still technically do a 500 day run, just much harder

but now thinking of doing that vegetarian or vegan run, see how long i last
but in the same breath i wonder how much a sorta opposite of that of using nothing with plants or herbs or fungi (none of that natural medicine, while there is synthetic and animal based antiseptic the most commonly used is hydrogen peroxide the typical antiseptic is often made using fungi so none of that, and while their is completely synthetic antibiotics, 75% are natural. so maybe you can get away with it by throwing 3/4ths of it away), no rubber in clothing (nature based) same with cotton but you are free to use all meat and products from metal. you would have to give yourself some leeway of burning wood but no wearing or consuming those dirty plant products. see how long you last

(note, i recommend you do not try this at home irl, you will likely get hypoglycemia and other nutrient deficiencies and there is so much of modern medicine that is derived from plants and fungi even if you avoid "natural medicines" as i gave examples with antiseptic and antibiotics)

To be fair, the last time I did the True Vegan run, it was before Scurvy was added to the game, and it was doable. But With Scurvy but not allowed to eat fish- yeah. That challenge will be more difficult now than it was then.

I like the idea of eliminating all harvestable plant-based food and drink- I am guessing cattail stalks would also be not allowed? (I rely on cattails for calories at the start of most runs if I spawn into a region with lots of them.)

I think it could be a scale of levels of someone's choosing
level 1 is cat tails and antiseptic and antibiotics allowed and the clothing (cat tails, the name, so obviously it's meat not plants)
level 2 is same but not cat tails
level 3 is antibiotics and antiseptic allowed but no clothing made with rubber or cotton (or you believe has that in it), wool is of course ok
level 4 is no antiseptic and get rid of 3/4ths of the antibiotics you find

though that's just my initial thoughts on this

Thanks for the ideas! A vegan/pacifist run would be fun for an older version of the game where the animals are harder to deal with. I also forgot about the beachcombing only one, that'd be a fun one to play around with.

I especially like @Leeanda's bear cave idea; sounds like an intense challenge haha. I wonder how often you'd be able to sleep in there without the bear noticing you.

My actual "challenge" is interloper with the restriction that I must live in a region 10 days before moving to the next and cant come back (unless to pass through). Breaks up the interloper "go-fast-forge/summit"-mode. Very fun. Started DP and just "unlocked" CH. Then I have a choice: PV og ML as the next unlock.
