Lantern Softlock... ​😖​

Apparently if we have just tiny amount of lantern fuel and we attempt to start the lantern anyway, the animation can lock. 
I've been walking around in Hibernia not able to look around or interact with anything (such as the door to try and reset/disrupt the animation)

Submitting a ticket.
I suppose I'll just have to reload and search Hibernia again. 🤭

There have been a number of glitches on actions completing. I searched the safe at Spence's Homestead and it never completed the search - I could walk around with the 'searching' dial on the screen but not interact with anything. It was like that for several minutes and never stopped, I had to quit and reload, then it happened twice more when I reloaded (I submitted a ticket to HL about that). I saw a streamer do the same thing, but it resolved after a minute or so and they could carry on. A few people on Twitch have had a bug where harvesting a torch never completes and they have to reload.

It would appear that you ran afoul of the long ago fix to make using the lantern's ignition sequence as free light have some small cost in lantern fuel.
