Olejnick
H all. just wondering if there will be insomnia, so it will be probably limiting coffee drinks for a day .
ManicManiac
As the name suggests, will likely also prohibit sleep for some duration or until some other mitigating condition is met... (akin to Cabin Fever in that respect)
Olejnick
Rather i was thinking that insomnia will be effect of drinking coffee. So you won't be able to travel so far as now
Kranium
Looks like acorns can be crafted into making a stimulant drink. So insomnia is also introduced, to balance that out.
hozz1235
I initially thought the acorn tea would also be a "cure" for insomnia as well, but we already have so many "stimulants" in the game. I'm interested to see how acorn/insomnia are unique.
hozz1235
After doing some research into health benefits of acorns and acorn coffee/tea, it appears it is caffeine free so could not be considered a stimulant and therefore not a cure for insomnia? We will soon find out what HL has in store for us though! https://www.lybrate.com/topic/benefits-of-acorns-and-its-side-effects

It could also end up being something tied to the electrostatic fog.

Good point. I guess I was coming from what we see in society today - instead of going to sleep to get rested, they consume energy drinks as pick-me-ups. Walk in a convenience store lately and look at the refrigerated beverage section? The number of energy drinks?? 'nuff said. Rusty
I tentatively think that Insomnia will be a side effect of the Glimmer Fog; I didn't see it in the list of changes for the non-DLC update (if I recall rightly). If not, it'd be a condition imposed by something found only in the Far Territories. Glimmer Fog seems to me like the most likely suspect: we know that the effects of the Aurora can affect behavior, from seeing what happens to wolves during an aurora. Glimmer Fog looks to me like a natural extension of that mysterious electromagnetic action. Can't wait to see!
UpUpAway95
I'm thinking one of the cures for insomnia may be the herbal tea improved rest buff. Potentially, insomnia may mean that you cannot regenerate any health regardless of how long you sleep until you cure the condition with a herbal tea or another new curative recipe.
mfuegemann
For me the main effect of insomnia would be not being able to regenerate fatigue. Hence limiting the carrying weight and ability to sprint and climb. Being an affliction, the part about health regeneration may be true too.
